The List's Eating & Drinking Guide
- May 2011
Playing to a local crowd, this new Southside
venture aims to offer a slice of city centre wine and dine
glamour without the cab fare.
The vast first floor space is subtly divided:
young groups gather for drinks on the comfortable couches
while the restaurant space offers breakfasts, lunch and dinner
and packs out at the weekend. Families are made particularly
welcome with a kids menu and a range of organic baby food
so that mums can stick around for one more coffee.
The à la carte menu is short and
straightforward. Two soft and tasty fishcakes have plenty
of salmon and haddock and a generous helping of wilted spinach.
Pastas, a decent range of fish options and meat and grills
make up the main courses. Crispy pork belly, served with an
aromatic mixed bean stew, merguez and some creamy mash is
a huge dish of comfort food.
Theres a lighter breakfast and lunch
menu featuring eggs all ways, burgers, sandwiches and salads
and Sunday offers a roast of the day with all the trimmings.
